Mr. Snowman Headband FREE Knit Pattern

Even though it is still summer down here on the Coastal Bend....and will be for QUITE SOME TIME.....I can't help but get started on these sweet snowmen headbands!!  It's the newest addition to my FREE patterns available here on the blog.

 MR. SNOWMAN KNIT HEADBAND PATTERN


WINTER IS HERE!!!  Make one of these Mr. Snowman Headbands for EVERYONE you know!!! You may easily custom fit this headband for any size by measuring the head and subtracting two inches for your finished piece. 


MATERIALS:
Knitting needles size 8
1.5 oz worsted weight yarn – White
Small amount of worsted weight yarn – Orange and Black
Yarn needle
Two ¾” black buttons

STITCHES USED and ABBREVIATIONS:
Cast On – CO
Knit – K
Purl – P
Knit 2 together – K2tog

HEADBAND
With white, CO 15.
Row 1: (K, P) across
Repeat row 1 until piece measures 19” or desired length.
Bind off, leaving a 12” tail.  Sew ends together.  Finish off by weaving in all tails. 

CARROT NOSE
With orange, CO 5.
Rows 1 and 3: K across.
Rows 2 and 4: P across.
Row 5: K2 tog, k1, k2 tog.
Rows 6 and 8: P across.
Row 7: K across.
Row 9: K2 tog, k1.
Row 10: P across.
Row 11: K2 tog.  Bind off.  Weave in tail at row 1 and finish off.  Leave remaining tail for finishing. 

FINSIHING
Place seam centered in back.  Using a 12” length of black yarn, stitch button eyes 2” apart and ½” from the edge of center front headband.

Using remaining tail on carrot nose, place on headband according to picture and stitch around edges, securing it to the headband, weave end in securely. 


For mouth, cut a 36” length of black worsted weight. Stitch the mouth using the picture as a guide.  Weave in all ends securely to the inside of headband.
